South Africa’s cricket captain, Temba Bavuma, will not play in the last one-day match against Ireland because he hurt his left elbow. The injury happened during the second match when he dove to reach the crease and landed awkwardly on his elbow. He couldn’t play in the second half of that game.
Bavuma will leave the UAE on Tuesday with the rest of the team to see a specialist about his injury. He is trying to get better in time for the Test series against Bangladesh, which starts on October 21. In his place, Reeza Hendricks has been called up and will join the team in Abu Dhabi before Monday’s match. Rassie van der Dussen will take over as captain while Bavuma is out.
South Africa has already won the ODI series against Ireland with a score of 2-0. Additionally, all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has gone back home for personal reasons, so he will not be available for the final match either.
The team is in a challenging situation with key players missing, but they are focused on finishing the series strong. Everyone hopes Bavuma can recover quickly and be ready for the important matches ahead.
