Noman Ali, Pakistan’s skilled left-arm spinner, has earned a nomination for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month, thanks to his brilliant performance in the recent Test series against England.
During the series, Noman emerged as a crucial player for Pakistan, taking an impressive total of 20 wickets at an average of 13.85 in the second and third Tests. His bowling was key to Pakistan’s resurgence after losing the first Test, helping them claim the series and ending their three-year wait for a home Test series victory.
Noman Ali delivered two exceptional spells that turned the games in Pakistan’s favor. In the second Test, he achieved outstanding match figures of 11/147 and followed that up with 9/130 in the third Test. Pakistan’s batters set a challenging 297-run target for England, and Noman’s left-arm spin was instrumental in defending it. He achieved his best-ever Test bowling figures of 8/46 in this match, leading Pakistan to a long-awaited Test win on home turf since 2021.
His strong form continued in the third and final Test, held in Rawalpindi. Despite coming in at a low position in the batting lineup with Pakistan at 177/7, Noman contributed an invaluable 45 runs, which helped the team establish a 77-run first-innings lead. His all-round performance was vital in securing a comprehensive nine-wicket win. With the ball, he again took charge, grabbing six wickets to dismiss England for just 112 runs.
Noman’s stellar display in this series has placed him on the shortlist for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. He is joined by South Africa’s fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, who also put in notable performances for their respective teams.
