Pakistan fast bowler Mir Hamza has been officially released from the national Test squad due to discomfort in his right leg, which he experienced shortly before the ongoing third and final Test against England in Rawalpindi. His departure from the squad is a precautionary measure, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) seeks to ensure his full recovery before he returns to the field.
Hamza initially reported mild discomfort, which prompted the PCB medical staff to assess his condition. He was unable to participate in training sessions leading up to the match and has now been sent back to Karachi for rehabilitation. The PCB’s medical team will closely monitor his progress as he undergoes recovery exercises.
During a practice session earlier this week, Hamza was spotted engaging in rehabilitation work, focusing on regaining strength in his lower body rather than bowling. Under the supervision of physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon, Hamza performed exercises aimed at strengthening his glute muscles, using resistance bands in routines such as glute bridges and clam shells. These exercises are designed to help him regain stability and mobility in his leg.
Sources within the PCB have indicated that Hamza’s recovery period could extend up to three weeks. This timeline puts his availability for Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball tour of Australia in question, as the team is set to play a series of One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in November. His fitness will be closely evaluated over the next few weeks to determine if he can make a timely return to the squad.
The Pakistan cricket team is preparing for their Australian tour, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is. They are scheduled to depart for Melbourne on October 29, with training sessions planned at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 1 and 2. The team will also have an optional training session on November 3, just before the first ODI on November 4. As Pakistan looks to finalize their squad for the tour, the PCB will be hoping Hamza can make a full recovery and join the squad in time.
