Mustafizur Rahman Likely to Miss West Indies White-Ball Series

Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman may miss the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies. He has requested a leave of absence from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for December to be with his wife, who is due to give birth.

A representative from the BCB confirmed this to Cricbuzz, explaining that while they are considering his request, a final decision will be made once Mustafizur returns from the United Arab Emirates, where he is currently playing in a three-match ODI series. The official mentioned that they will discuss his availability and explore options after he arrives.

The official emphasized that family matters are important and will be prioritized, stating, “We know Mustafizur has requested leave, but we need to assess whether he might be available for even one of the formats (ODIs or T20Is). However, we understand this is a personal matter, and family should come first.”

Mustafizur is scheduled to return to Dhaka on November 13, following the final game of the ODI series against Afghanistan, which concludes on November 11 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Known for his skill in limited-overs cricket, Mustafizur has opted out of Test matches and currently only plays in ODI and T20 formats.

Meanwhile, most players from Bangladesh’s Test squad will head directly to the West Indies for their tour, departing from Dubai. Additional players like Mominul Haque and Taijul Islam will soon travel to Dubai to join the squad. The Test series will start on November 22, with the second match commencing on November 30.

The white-ball series against the West Indies will kick off with ODIs starting on December 8, followed by the T20I series beginning on December 16.
