Pakistan’s pace bowler Mohammad Amir recently voiced his surprise at opening batter Fakhar Zaman’s absence from the white-ball squads chosen for the upcoming tours of Australia and Zimbabwe. Alongside the squad announcements, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also revealed its central contracts for the 2025-26 international season, which notably did not include Fakhar.
Amir, taken aback by the exclusion, shared his thoughts on his official X account (formerly Twitter), stating that Fakhar stands out as Pakistan’s primary impact player in the white-ball format. “I am surprised that Fakhar Zaman is not in the team. He is the only impact player we have in white ball cricket,” Amir expressed.
In another development, the PCB named Mohammad Rizwan as captain of the white-ball squad for both tours. The Australia series is scheduled from November 4 to November 18, followed by matches in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, set for November 24 through December 5. In Rizwan’s absence, all-rounder Salman Ali Agha will step up as vice-captain to lead the T20I side against Zimbabwe.
