Lahore Qalandars have introduced Darren Gough, the former England fast bowler, as their new head coach. Gough’s appointment comes as the team gears up for the much-anticipated Global Super League, which will be held in Guyana, starting November 26.
The management of Lahore Qalandars expressed their excitement at bringing Gough on board. In an official statement, they highlighted his leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his ability to guide the team. “We are thrilled to appoint Darren Gough as head coach. He will begin his responsibilities with the team in the upcoming Global Super League.”
Darren Gough, renowned for his successful career as a fast bowler for England, also voiced his excitement about joining the Qalandars. Gough, who had previously contributed to the team’s Player Development Program in Lahore, shared that he looks forward to working closely with the players and helping them excel. “It’s an honor to work with Lahore Qalandars. I have previously supported their Player Development Program in Lahore, and I look forward to this new role with the team,” he said.
Sameen Rana, the Chief Operating Officer of Lahore Qalandars, warmly welcomed Gough to the team. He expressed that Gough’s experience would not only add to the team’s strength but would also support their growth and competitive edge. “We are excited to have Darren on board, and his experience will greatly strengthen our foundation,” Rana remarked.
Gough is expected to join the team in Guyana on November 23, giving him a few days with the squad before the start of the tournament. His presence is anticipated to boost morale and help prepare the team for a challenging league that brings together players from around the world.
The Global Super League will feature five teams from different countries, beginning on November 26 and running until the final match on December 7. The tournament offers a substantial prize pool of $1 million, making it a high-stakes event. Lahore Qalandars will kick off their campaign with a match against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, a strong team from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), setting the stage for an intense competition right from the start.
