Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, aged 22, has been added to the team’s growing list of injured players. He hurt his thigh during the team’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.
In an official statement, Real Madrid confirmed, “The player has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg. His progress will be monitored.” However, the club did not provide any details about how long he might be out.
Reports from the Spanish media suggest that Camavinga, who previously injured his knee in September, could be unavailable for two to three weeks. During Wednesday’s match, he was substituted in the 56th minute due to the same type of injury that has already sidelined Vinicius Junior for several weeks.
Real Madrid’s Mounting Injury Woes
The club is currently dealing with several long-term injuries, creating significant challenges for their squad. Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao remain out with serious knee problems, leaving gaps in their defense.
Adding to the team’s worries, reports indicate that Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Brahim Diaz also experienced discomfort during the match against Liverpool. Medical tests for these players are scheduled for Friday to determine the extent of their injuries.
Struggles in the Champions League
Real Madrid, the reigning Champions League winners, are facing a tough season in the competition. They have only managed two wins in five matches, losing three. With six points, the team barely holds onto the 24th and final qualifying position for the knockout stage. Their performance has put their title defense at serious risk, amplifying the importance of getting key players back to full fitness.
This season’s injuries and setbacks highlight the challenges Real Madrid faces as they navigate through a demanding schedule while dealing with an injury-plagued squad.
